.Gov backlinks

How do I get .gov backlinks?

Getting .gov backlinks seems impossible, right? Wrong! In fact, it’s not hard at all to find government pages that are willing to let you get some link juice from their site. There are a few steps and a few things to keep in mind, but ultimately, it’s pretty easy.

First things first – put the following into your Google Search (if you’re not using Google – use Google):

site:.gov inurl:blog "post a comment" -"you must be logged in" -"comments closed" "keyword"

Replace “keyword” with your search term and start building links!

 Or is it that Easy?

The answer is yes and no. If you are trying to use bots or just comment on as many posts as you can, good luck. There are many sites that accept posts like “Great post – I have been searching for this info everywhere!” Pretty generic and embarassing. Most Government sites are heavily moderated amd they are not in the business of just handing out links. If you want them to accept your comment and let you enjoy that juicy .gov backlink, the trick is to… wait for it…. wait for it…. READ THE BLOG!

What a concept right? Read the blog and leave a meaningful comment. Engage the page guys! Most government site moderators are just going to delete your post and backlink if you don’t contribute to the conversation. So try to find realevent posts that interest you – and then add your two cents!

OH – and before I forget – you can do this with .edu sites as well!

site:.edu inurl:blog "post a comment" -"you must be logged in" -"comments closed" "keyword"

If you can’t find anything that interests you on the .gov sites, there should be something from the world of Academia!
